WHAT IS A DUCTLESS SYSTEM?

As the name implies, Ductless Systems do not have ducts like traditional HVAC systems. They have two parts: An outdoor unit called a heat pump/ straight AC with an indoor unit called an “air handler,” which pushes the air. Multiple units can be installed around the home to take advantage of what is called “zoned heating and cooling,” which means each area can be individualized and maintain different temperatures.

WHAT IS THE COST OF INSTALLATION FOR A DUCTLESS SYSTEM?

The overall cost is dependent on many factors. The main factor in price comes from what type of model, make, and efficiency you as a customer prefers. Other costs associated costs come from the number of indoor units needed, and all those factors determine the value of labor necessary. The average installation cost from beginning to end is approximately $5,000, which is typically cheaper than a central air system installation.

HOW LONG WILL DUCTLESS SYSTEMS TYPICALLY LAST?

The average ductless system will last 20 years or more. Of course, factors like regular professional maintenance and overall usage may change that number.

WHAT ARE SOME ADVANTAGES OF A DUCTLESS SYSTEM OVER A TRADITIONAL SYSTEM?

We have covered the bulk of this question in a previous blog article Here.

But the main advantages of Ductless systems over traditional HVAC systems (Central Air) include: Not having to use ductwork, ease of installation, better efficiency, zoned heating and cooling, and runs quietly.

WHAT IS TYPICAL MAINTENANCE FOR A DUCTLESS SYSTEM?

Ductless systems need routine maintenance to prevent any issues, maintain system efficiency, identify any additional changes, etc. Typical professionals will perform the following:

  • Temperature Testing – Readjusting thermostats, over time, they offset, so they must be tested for accuracy.
  • Thorough Cleaning – All airways and filters should be cleaned.
  • Look for Leaks – Check the refrigeration line connections for leaks.
  • Test Electricity – Electrical connections may become worn or loose.
